7 Tips to Decrease the Amount of Humidity in Your Home

How to Decrease the Humidity Levels at Home

1. Check for leaks, cracks, and other problems that may be making the humidity worse.
2. Insulate your home, waterproof your roof and seal the windows’ edges to avoid moisture from getting in.
3. Open up the windows and doors, or turn the fans on to keep the air circulating and your home ventilated.
4. Place mesh bags filled with uncooked rice in small spaces (drawers, closets, etc.) for them to absorb the humidity in there.
5. Sprinkle baking soda on your carpets, rugs, upholstery and other furniture so that it can trap the moisture in them.
6. Don’t let the hot water running for too long. Make your showers shorter to keep the steam from going everywhere.
7. Invest in a good dehumidifier that can strip the air around you from the excess moisture.
